LAG Configuration Example

LAG Configuration

In this setup, 2 routers are connected via 4 cables each of 1 Gig bandwidth. By setting up Link aggregation, the logical bandwidth becomes 4 Gig link.

Link aggregation in the routers is achieved by creating a Bonding interface. The physical interfaces eth0, eth1, eth2 and eth3 are made member of the Bonding interface.

So, the four interfaces on R1 are collectively called as a Bond and similarly for R2.

We have different modes available while configuring Bond. The default mode is 802.3ad.

Other modes available are:

active-backup
broadcast
round-robin
transmit-load-balance
adaptive-load-balance
xor-hash

The above mentioned features are offered and supported by VCL-MX-50xx family of IP/MPLS Routers.
